Monica Hamuda tells her story

A journey from Milan to the ‘bitter’ Maremma, a land of contrasts where harshness blends with beauty in its purest form.”

What drew me here were the memories of the wild Maremma I experienced as a child —the scent of helichrysum etched into my soul, the unspoiled beaches, the pine forests, and the woods steeped in history and mystery. And here is where I chose to live.

I brought my art with me, which here found its first true expression. Here there is wood to sculpt, soil to hold in my hands, bold colors and light to paint —often even just in the heart. For me, art is breathing in beauty; it is bringing that beauty into a painting, restoring an old piece of furniture, or designing a life path.

On this journey, I brought my children. One of them chose to stay, and together we set out to build something beautiful and good, offering something to those who seek beauty and goodness. That’s how our Organic Farm was born. Together, we offer hospitality to those seeking peace and true connection with the Earth and the beauty of Nature.

“Hamuda, both as a painter and sculptor, is an artist of uncommon depth, able to combine an uncompromising and original exploration with a powerfully emotional and almost visceral immediacy of expression. The female figure is central in her work: an ancestral emblem of nature’s force, a source of Eros, a great mother, a sensual lover, a playful maiden, an ethereal presence —Hamuda’s women are always restless and changeable, like the moon or a cloud, even when they seem solid and grounded, made of earth. Earth and fire: literally ‘terra-cotta’. Or water and wind: like a passing cloud or a flowing, shifting wave. The female figures imagined by Hamuda pass through and merge with the elements. They are born of the elements. But they do not remain bound to them; they elude what seems, at first glance, to be their essence. They always seem on the verge of transformation: from earth to water, from water to air, from air to fire… This instability reflects the passing of the seasons, but also our own human restlessness, our personal, daily unease. Because we too are made of air, fire, earth, and water. And we are always changing.”

Riccardo tells his story

I was 11 years old when I realized this was where I wanted to live, even before graduating in a Technical High School for Agriculture. The countryside and animals would become my passion, guiding me to create a place where animals, nature, and humans could live in harmony.

And that’s what I try to do—interfering as little as possible with natural processes and following the principles of organic farming and livestock breeding, working with nature rather than against it.

Walking through this land, I see a balanced landscape, with alternating fields of cereals and legumes, reforested areas, a vineyard, and an olive grove. A self-sustaining system: on our farm, buffaloes roam free-range through meadows and hills, feeding on what the land offers, drinking from natural springs, and in turn, providing the manure used to fertilize our fields.

Our philosophy

To the wine we produce in our cellar, we do not add selected yeasts, and filtration is kept to the bare minimum, allowing the wine to retain its integrity. We take care of the olive trees by pairing old and young plants, and the Extra Virgin Olive Oil we produce also reflects our ethical approach to production.

In the same way, for our buffalo salami, we have chosen not to use preservatives or chemical additives, keeping the product as natural as possible and using traditional processing methods.

The cultivation of our fields, the raising of buffaloes, and the wine production are managed as a unified whole, where the Earth is the undisputed protagonist, and the manipulation of products is minimal to preserve authenticity. This multifaceted approach allows us to achieve full sustainability, where all elements interact and support one another.

Every product from our farm —from oil to wine, from meat to buffalo salami— reflects our philosophy: a return to the origins, with minimal intervention and great attention to detail. The goal is for each product to fully express the reality and biodiversity of the land it comes from.

Our goal is not just to produce agricultural goods, but to create a true agricultural ecosystem where land, animals, and plants coexist in harmony, and where quality is not just a technical matter but a question of respect and love for the land. We strive to make our work a tribute to nature —a constant dialogue with the earth that surrounds us and that, day after day, gives back the fruits of our commitment and passion.

Sustainability

Our goods come from respectful use of the land and its natural habitat, in harmony with natural rhythms and with care for the animals —because producing today means preserving, not exploiting or depleting.

Care

We are committed to safeguarding the environment by minimizing the human footprint, interfering as little as possible with natural processes, protecting and conserving natural habitats, and reducing pollution and environmental harm.

Certifications

All our organic products are ICEA-certified (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification).

Our Friends

Life would be empty without them—our companions with whom we share each day. Some arrive as little ones and stay, others pass through and stay a while, and some give us a smile for a day —or for a lifetime.
